Session Three — The Fondeo The bootsteps in the alley were not a rescue party. Nobody in Havana runs toward a killing. Miyake got Esteban up by the collar, briefly and entirely off the ground, and set him on his feet with the blade where it had been. The ship was north of the city, nestled between two hills, and everything between here and there was the Amazonian quarter. Squad and platoon encampments, roaming soldiers, campfires for a mile and a half past the edge of anything built.

Session Two — The Storm and the Broker The thing in the storm was not one thing. From above the thunderheads the crew could make out shapes in the churn below, separate masses of freezing wind and shard-lit cloud moving against each other with something like intent. Not a single creature circling the ship. Several, and busy with one another, tearing at the storm and at each other for whatever passes for territory among things born out of weather and emerald dust.
