Games of Chance
A compilation of the known games of chance (and their rules) commonly found throughout the world. Payouts expressed as a ratio are defined as payout:bet.
Slots
Buy-in: 1 coin of any type A player rolls 5d6.
Payouts:
- Pair: 1:1
- Three-of-a-kind: 3:1
- Full house: 5:1
- Four-of-a-kind: 8:1
- Five-of-a-kind: 20:1
Bones
Buy-in: Minimum 5 gold
A player rolls 2d6. If they roll a 7 or 12, they win. They can double their bet to add 1d6 to the total.
Payout: 3:2
Liar’s Dice
Minimum 10 gold buy-in
A player rolls 5d6 and keeps their roll secret. Each player takes turns bidding a face value and a number equal to the number of dice showing said face value among all player’s dice. A player has two choices during their turn: make a higher bid or challenge the previous player’s bid. Raising the bid means either increasing the quantity, or the face value, or both. If a bid is challenged, all dice are revealed. If the bid is true, the bidder wins and the challenger is eliminated. If the bid is false, the challenger wins and the bidder is eliminated.
Payout: 90% of the pot with the remainder going to the house.
Wheel of Fate
Buy-in: Minimum 5 gold
Each player chooses one of two options: choose a number between 1 and 20, or choose whether the result of the die roll will be odd or even. The dealer then rolls a d20.
Correct value payout: 5:1 Even/odd payout: 2:1
Dealer's Bluff
Buy-in: Minimum 10 gold
A player rolls 2d10. The dealer does the same, keeping the first die hidden. Each player in turn, including the dealer, rolls any number of additional d10s. All die faces are face value, except for the 1, which can be worth 1 or 11. If the dealer scores a 21, all players lose. If a player scores a 21, they win. If neither occurs, a player loses if their total is less than the dealer’s, and wins if their total is greater than the dealer’s.
Payout: 3:2
If both the dealer and a player score a 21, that player wins their bet back 1:1.
Stud
Ante: Minimum 10 gold | betting in increments of 10 gold
Each player antes in, then rolls a secret d20. Players have a round of betting with raises, calls, and folds. When the betting ends, everyone rolls a secret d12, and has another round of betting. When that betting ends, everyone rolls a secret d6, and has a final round of betting. When all players either fold or call the bet, the hands are revealed.
The hand orders are as follows:
- “Royal Flush” (20, 12, 6)
- “Three of a kind” (6-6-6, 5-5-5, etc. in descending order)
- “Straight” (8-7-6, 7-6-5, etc. in descending order)
- "High Card" (total of all dice)
