Sloop Dogg
The Conquérante is a sloop class airship formerly in service of the Amazonian Navy. It was decommissioned after it was felled in a battle over Suriname Bay. Having suffered a catastrophic failure of its balloon, it landed in the bay with its hull mostly unharmed. It currently floats docked in the Petrolina harbor having been stripped of all of it's armament and accouterments.
Description
The Conquérante has two decks and a crow's nest atop the balloon, to be used by whomever is on watch.
- The main deck or "topside". The main deck houses the engine room and the Hydrogas orb.
- The lower deck or "below deck". This deck houses the crew quarters and the cargo hold.
The airship is kept aloft and suspended by a Hydrogas balloon that is fueled by it's main reservoir orb located on the main deck. Primarily a wind powered sailing vessel, it is capable of sailing both the air and the seas.
Propulsion
While it was in service, it housed a Hydrogas powered dynamo which in turn powered interior lights and a main propeller for use in unfavorable winds. After it was decommissioned the dynamo was removed.
Crew
The airship can be crewed by as little as one person, but functions best with a minimum crew of four (five including a main gunner if the vessel is armed).
Crew Positions
- Captain - Primarily gives orders and is final word on all decisions while embarked.
- First Mate - Consul to the captain. Relays orders to all aboard. Dispenses discipline to crew when necessary.
- Navigator - Charts course and is responsible for all record keeping.
- Midshipman Rigger & Engineering - Executes Captain and First Mate's orders. Is responsible for adjusting and maintaining rigging as well as the main propeller.
- Midshipman Gunner *new* - Executes Captain and First Mate's orders. Is responsible for manning & maintaining all fixed guns aboard the ship.
Armament
Besides the small arms and abilities of the crew, the Conquérante has at it's bow, a hardpoint for mounting cannon or other weaponry. It is otherwise unarmed.
